Philips wanted more sellout and stronger top-of-mind awareness for its kitchen appliances in the month when everyone's attention is on love. Two assumptions stood in the way. In India, Valentine's Day is a buying occasion: flowers, gifts, a dinner reservation. Kitchen appliances don't get a look in, because they're bought for function, not feeling. And the kitchen still isn't seen as a man's place. The brief was to tie Philips to Valentine's Day and India's deep love for food, positioning the brand as the enabler of that love.
Effort says more than expense. Anyone can buy a gift; cooking her favourite dish shows you know her. So we didn't ask men to buy Philips. We asked them to make something, challenging the tired stereotype that only women cook, and posing a pointed question: how well do you actually know what she likes? The campaign launched with the print headline “Is her heart pizza-shaped?” and grew into 15 cuisines across 15 cities, with 15+ ad renditions in the city pages of national newspapers, each speaking to a local favourite. AI-generated visuals reshaped those foods into hearts, from a heart-shaped jalebi to a heart-shaped dhokla, giving Philips a visual language that was instantly recognisable and entirely its own. The idea ran across print, digital, social, e-commerce and in-store, meeting buyers wherever they were deciding. AI and craft split the work deliberately. AI let us produce visuals across 15 regional cuisines in a few days, a scale and speed no conventional food shoot could match. But AI didn't pick the jalebi, set the tone or write the line. The idea, the choice of local foods and every final frame came from human judgement.
One idea, 15 regional expressions and five channels, all built on a visual language no other brand owns. A category message became a cultural conversation, and it earned immense brand love for Philips. Every agency now says it uses AI. The real question is what AI is for. We use it to move faster and try more options, and we keep people in charge of the idea and the craft, because that's what makes work memorable.
